Kitesurfing, kiteboarding shop & school. Lessons - Durban, PE, J-Bay, Cape Town
A few of us have spoken about having a Slider Jam contest. We have two sliders and I have found a third mini one. So there is one for just about everybody. Maybe let's start working towards making it happen.
We can rope in sponsors, do right by the council, make it vibey and all the rest. Most importantly it should be fun for the local kiters and have it be a legit contest. With that we need to include a very basic freestyle contest, that gets run off a set list of moves that everyone recognises. The freestyle needs to be Pop based, i.e. no boosting. You win by best execution and style, so excess creativity that nobody understands is excluded.
Also of course some wakeskating on and around the sliders.
The takkie kickflip offer to everyone still stands. It started out as a wager but I think R500-00 cash is where it has settled and then if this event gets some momentum we can add prizes to that.
For the Wakeskate Challenge:
Wakeskates are available in SA from our local Flowrider and Wakeboard legend Matt Lammers. http://www.goodwoodwakeskates.com/ Their Facebook page is where it all happens: http://www.facebook.com/gdubwakeskates
Some planning and training needs to be put in place between now and then, so there is no rush to have this event happen. We can post videos and stuff here of what the "judges" will be looking for and moves to try and learn, in a step by step way to help raise the level a bit.
We can have a ladies and different age group categories with prizes for the most progressed rider, best attempt award etc.
Sponsors to look at :
Goodwood, Oneill, Vans, suggestions welcome.
