thx guys. will probs steer clear from sterkfontein until mid summer.

Warwick, you will likely also need booties and a hoodie, possibly even gloves, for this time of year at Sterkfontein. The water will be rather cold.

@Lyle - You can go to Sterkfontein to learn, and winter is when they get the best wind. Just pack in your wetsuit as it's cold there at the moment.

Cool! Enjoy Cape Town and hope you get some good wind.

im just heading to cape town for holiday, and while im there going to have a 2 day kiting coarse. will mostly end up kiting in KZN, sterkfontein and spots up here.looking forward to the trip. Bruce i think ill be seeing you guys in december for some more lessons

Thanks for the help Warwick and Bruce, will have a look at kitebook.

I went for a theory lesson at Joluka, Gunter mentioned that we can do a practical lesson at Sterkfontein dam, surely not necessary to go to Cape Town for lessons?

Hi Lyle. Glad to hear you are keen to get into kiting.

Have a look on our online shop under the used and demo kite section if you are looking for a good deal on your first kite (you may even be able to afford 2!) -

We obviously have new kites too so you can look at those if you prefer new. We deliver anywhere.

Hi guys, I'm looking to get into Kite surfing and want to buy a kite. I live in Pretoria and will likely mostly kite at the Vaal and Leeupan. I weigh 74 kg, if I can only afford one kite at the moment, what size should that kite be? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Lyle

Hi Tim. Leeupan is near Secunda. About 20 km south of Leandra along the R50. When heading south of Leandra along the R50, turn right onto a gravel road (that runs on the northern side of Leeupan) just before you reach the R547 turnoff on your right.
