Hey people, there is something amazing going on at Mtwalume. I have never seen such a thing in KZN. The recent heavy rains have broken through the sandbar dumbing sand on Elysium reef. It has formed…Continue

Forecast looking dismal for tomorrow. Zinkwazi does not do dismal, so no go. Try getting some action today, go South but it looks like it will be whooshing tonight.

Looks amazing. Unfortunately I'm leaving for 'The Big Smoke' tomorrow morning at 4am to attend a funeral, and only back Sunday afternoon. Enjoy it Kingsley. Hope it's Epic!

As for Sundays session, I am making my call now.  ZINKWAZI.  I need something simple and familiar for a change.  Zinkwazi is where I have had the two best waves of my life with a kite and they were one after the other, following which I immediately got out, had the famous beach pizza and went home because life simply could not get better at that point in time, for real.  So if you are familiar with genuine point breaks, don't crash your kite, are willing to wear a leash and have enough self control not to ride a perfect wave all the way to the windless inside section, then Zinkwazi is for you.  Oh you also need to be comfortable launching out through the rocks and not screwing that up.  I have space for two in my car and the taxi leaves Westville at 7.30.  There is a bar on the beach and it is holiday season, so there will be people around, for comfort, if you feeling put off by all the other stuff I just spewed forth.  I will post some pics and a vid, now now.

I think my last post was misunderstood.  All the haha's were not me gloating but me laughing at just how ridiculous the whole enterprise was.  I was like a lagoon rat scratching to get to the bank most of the time.  My kite was in the water more than it was in the air. I have my leash on the safety, suicide leashing is not an option, hell no.  It was the first time I have used my Hadlow's 100% unplugged, it's like tying yourself to the back of the wife's car when she has the shits with you.  "B Dog" is more legend than I have ever thought, these kites are beastly.  So Bruce this "Old" Dog has learnt no new tricks just yet but I had a plan and implemented it late this afternoon.  I figured I needed to put my kite up up in the lightest wind possible and then eliminate one more variable, the board.  So there I was this evening jumping off sand dunes throwing handle passes.  I managed all but three, rotating in both directions with only one face plant deep into the dune.  It was not pretty and I'm sure people who saw this spectacle think i am not well.  I never crashed the kite, not once.  Now to take it to the water with a board, I am scared.

@Dean - So it's true... An old dog can learn new tricks. Good dog!

Thanks for the CSIR link Dean.

I have added Durban: WindNet to our Durban and Umdloti Weather pages under Additional wind resources in case anyone wants to do a comparison to what WindGuru or the live wind
report is saying

Is it just my imagination, or is the CSIR website INSANELY fast!? I would love to know what they know or have access to that we don't... :-)

Congrats on your handle passes mate!

If you are sharp you will have noticed that the NE is already blowing down South.  Pretty much the norm.

Some more useful tools.

1 meter / second = 1.94384449 knots, let's just call it 2.

(Sunday is looking more like a north coast mission if getting out of bed is a job for you or an early south coast trip on the Mtwaloome.)
