Kiting Richards Bay.

So pray tell where the best spots are in RB? I am up there this weekend and it looks like the winds are going to be around so I may as well spend some time getting wet. Please give me some hints.

Comment by Kitesports on May 25, 2012 at 10:32: Yep, as Fred says, Alkantstrand is where to kite in the NE. WInd sucks up there when it's SW, very gusty and variable direction-wise. Mike and I went up there last week in the SW and we tried on the offshore and onshore side of Pelican Island and it was very trying, to say the least. Sometimes it seemed like you could kite in a circle the wind direction was changing so quickly, and you went from being over-powered to falling on your butt with no wind! There were 2 locals there and they said the SW is always like that.

Shot bro. I know, the wind in Durbs is also dead. This time of year is really difficult for us kiters. :-)

I have also heard about Pelican bay and kited near the north bay pier. I am sure I will spot some kiters around there. Hopefully some more people will give me local spots.
